Embrace the Chaos - An Exercise in Controlled Randomness- taught in-person by Libs Elliot
Using only paper and pencils - no computers required! - Libs will walk students through a series of worksheet exercises that mimic the programming language she uses to generate her quilt patterns. By using controlled elements in a random way, each participant will end up with a unique quilt pattern layout - no two Chaos Quilts are the same!
As a group, we'll discuss design flow and tweak our individual layouts. Then we'll cut fabric and work on piecing our designs, using provided block-building instructions. At the end of the class, each participant will leave with his/her own random geometric quilt design and will have the knowledge required to complete this project. This full day workshop allows time for drafting, design and initial block construction.
Class Supply List:
Fabric -
Libs suggests bringing a total of at least 2 yards of fabric (or 8-12 fat quarters or half yard cuts), in a variety of 5-10 different prints/solids that you love and would like to see together in a quilt. Go as simple or wild as you like! For fabric inspiration, look up #embracethechaosquilt (or even #rebelquilt) on Instagram as the quilts we'll be drafting will be similar in style.
Additional Supplies -
*AMQG will supply some cutting stations and ironing stations.
