The Austin Modern Quilt Guild

2022 Community Outreach Challenge: Friendship Stars!

This year, we're celebrating Friendship Stars! We're asking everyone to make a twin-sized quilt with at least one friendship star visible on the top. Just like last year, we'll have multiple categories in addition to an overall winner for our members to vote on. Read on for the full details of the challenge!

Challenge parameters:

  • Submit a twin-sized quiltminimum size 60" x 80”to be eligible for challenge prizes.

  • Aim for a gender-neutral aesthetic. While we know in our quilted hearts that pink is gender-neutral, we received a ton of pink quilts in 2021, so we'd like the rest of the rainbow to get some love!

  • Include at least one Friendship Star block in the quilt: We ask that you use this patternFriendship Star Quilt Block Patternas your jumping off point. Feel free to play with scale, size, repetition, and setting. Otherwise, the sky's the limit!

  • While this is not a fabric challenge, we will have a fabric available for anyone who's interested! We can provide batting as well. You can pick up some fabric at the guild meetings or arrange a pickup outside of meeting times; reach out to the VP of Community Outreach at service@austinmodernquiltguild.com.
