Welcome to the AMQG!
The Austin MQG’s mission is to support and encourage the growth and development of modern quilting through art, education, and community. Since 2012, we have provided educational programming, exciting events, and community outreach opportunities to our members. We would love to have you in our group!
In all things, our Guild strives to:
Develop and encourage the art of modern quilting.
Work with other guilds and groups with a similar purpose.
Encourage new quilters and other fiber artists interested in non-traditional and non-art fiber projects.
Offer educational opportunities through classes, workshops and sharing of information.
Support local community organizations through donation of modern quilting projects.
What we have to offer:
Members get free access to our monthly meetings. Learn, inspire and show your latest project. Local, national, and international speakers present Lectures and Trunk Shows at AMQG meetings, bringing us inspiring content several times a year.
No matter what your level of quilting, we organize workshops that are specifically geared to modern quilters. We have multiple retreats each year for you to get an entire weekend away sewing with quilty friends. Don’t miss out on our special events, they are usually awesome.
Members are eligible to participate in open quilting bees all over Austin (and virtually!). We also host one-day sew-ins so you can escape and socialize while you sew.
Members are eligible to participate in local and international level swaps and challenges.
MQG members get discounts at some local shops as well as Austin MQG events and international MQG events. Our members have access to an amazing monthly webinar series from internationally known instructors. We receive stunning patterns from fellow MQG members from around the world on a quarterly basis. Previous articles, webinars, tutorials and more are available on the MQG resources website for all members to access.
Members are encouraged to participate in committees, volunteer to co-host Bees, engage in community outreach, & more. AMQG members connect, collaborate, and sew-cialize together in a number of ways. We chat locally on our Facebook page, but you can also meet other members from around the world online! (Note: A Facebook account is not required to participate in our guild!)
Members may submit quilts to the premier modern quilting show and enjoy discounts to attend.VOTE
Members are eligible to vote in local and national MQG elections.
