This year? You are going to challenge yourself! To create a quilt for our community partners, use a technique you’ve never used before—try out a new way of designing, piecing, quilting, or binding.
Options are limitless! Maybe you learned a new piecing technique at QuiltCon, or maybe you have a pattern at home that's always seemed a little intimidating. Maybe you've been meaning to experiment with free-motion or matchstick or ruler quilting. Here's a great chance to experiment on a small scale.
We'll make smaller quilts this time: minimum size is only 36x48, but of course larger is always welcome. (We'll return to asking for twin-size quilts in 2024.)
As always, please wash and label your creation. You can pick up a label at the monthly meeting, or email service@austinmodernquiltguild.com to request one by mail.
Just one request: please use machine-quilting rather than hand-quilting, as machine-quilting will hold up better to repeated laundering.
No need to register—just bring your finished, labeled, and washed quilt to the June meeting, and tell us about the new technique you tried.
Want to share your progress, crowdsource some advice, or share the joy of learning (vent about unpicking stitches)? Here's the hashtag: #AMQGadventure
